When I moved to New York City, I found out about The Hellenic Initiative and its core mission to unite, invest, support, and promote Hellenism around the world. Since I emigrated to the United States in 2009, I was always looking for ways to stay connected to my roots whilst giving back to Greece.What motivated you to get involved with THI? Established to inform its readers about all things related to our homeland and its respective communities throughout the world, TNH is now providing THI’s New Leaders (40-years-old and younger), with a new platform to showcase their ideas and to engage their communities in a deeper, more meaningful way while simultaneously building a bridge to Greece and Cyprus. In collaboration with The Hellenic Initiative (THI), The National Herald and THI have begun a partnership to introduce the NEXTGEN of Greek/Cypriot ‘movers and shakers’ to the rest of our Diaspora community around the world. A telling indicator of my diplomatic and interpersonal skills is the series of interviews with academic staff and curators that I arranged for my blog (post nubila blog) but also my teaching experience with multicultural students. I have worked within small teams (college administration) but also as an independent researcher. I have excellent literacy and numeracy skills as well as a rich experience in working with Microsoft work (Word, Excel, Outlook). I understand very well the importance of detail: As a researcher and a practitioner, I saw in practice that small mistakes often cause big problems. ![]() It also taught me to be an excellent time -manager by advancing and adapting my organizational skills within fixed deadlines. Last September I produced, presented and promoted an interactive/applied theatre happening this taught me how to assume responsibility for the organization of an event, to be flexible with working hours and most importantly, to be prepared for unexpected problems. ![]() of London, I learned in practice how to deal with the inquiries of customers and how to 'sell' an idea. When I worked at the Department of External Relations of Birkbeck College, Uni. I know how to organise and simplify complex information. My overall professional experience in office jobs but also in research and teaching positions offered me a number of skills which are quite suitable for the demands of creative industries. Over the past month I interviewed numerous artists, curators and writers, among them David Morris the head of Collections of Whitworth Gallery who gave me a really insightful overview of the main strategies of cultural institutions in Manchester. I currently hold an honorary affiliation with the University of Manchester which enabled me to work as liaison between the university and art institutions and galleries. ![]() Beyond the web, I have successfully organized innovative forms of networking: I staged marketing-art happenings (Confessor Queen) that combined stand-up comedy with leaflet distribution and street-interaction for the launch of Allery Gallery. Dimitris Papaioannou, the director of Open ceremony Athens 2004 publicly praised my work. My promotional work has received excellent feedbacks from distinguished artists, journalists and entrepreneurs. ![]() Material presented there has reached distinguished magazines in UK and abroad (Corridor 8, Lifo). My facebook page (more 9000 friends) and blog (*) create dynamic platform of communication. My professional expertise combines the theoretical study of creative media (cinema, press) with practice-based projects in web promotion, journalism and performance art.
